Week 8 Picks

Thursday Night Football:
SD @ DEN (-8.5)
Mike: DEN. Guess I'll go with the local team. Go local sports team!
Joe: SD. That's gotta be too many points.
Final: DEN by 14. Peyton Manning > Phil Rivers

Sunday Games:
DET (-3.5) @ ATL
Mike: ATL. These teams are mysteries wrapped in enigmas in a box of Wheaties.
Joe: DET. The great 9:30am eastern time zone game.
Final: DET 22-21. I'm actually a proponent of these early games. Gotta have something to watch while I pour beer on my cereal.

MIN @ TB (-2.5)
Mike: TB. Did you notice all the Sunday games have a spread under a touchdown? Going with the Bucs here since they're Home but really, these are two of the most unpredictable teams in the league.  Unless you're predicting they'll lose which they'll normally do.
Joe: TB. They're both predictably terrible. No one should watch this game. So it will probably be the most exciting of the day.
Final: MIN by 6 in OT -- You were right. It was technically the closest game of the day.

CHI @ NE (-5.5)
Mike: CHI. The Patriots had a treasonous stretch of games earlier in the year then have looked much better lately. I think they're due for another letdown. The Beats are the opposite and looking to get back on track. That's how it works in the NFL.
Joe: NE. I'm not sure treasonous is the right word. Treacherous?
Final: NE in a blowout. I meant treasonous, as in Patriots being bad.

STL @ KC (-6.5)
Mike: KC. Somehow, the Rams beat the 'Hawks last week. Is that Austin Davis guy for real, or is Brett Favre off his rocker? I think we know the answer. Chiefs big.
Joe: KC. Also like the Chiefs handily. Saw this morning every Rams CB active for the game is a rookie. Maybe Alex Smith will get to 200 yards.
Final: KC by four TDs. The less we know about this game, the better.

SEA (-5.5) @ CAR
Mike: SEA. That's a mighty long flight to Charlotte. But I mean, c'mon, these are the defending Super Champs. Seahawks get back on track against a struggling Panther team.
Joe: CAR. I thought Seattle all week but it's a last minute change in my mind and give me Cam.
Final: SEA by 4. I changed my mind at the last minute the wrong way. Seattle has been sluggish for most of the year. Too much post championship partying in Washington State.

BUF @ NYJ (-2.5)
Mike: BUF. The more I pick games like this, the more I realize that I know nothing about football. I think I know but I just don't know. And I never will.
Joe: NYJ. This is the exact type of game the terrible Jets win. Harvin will have an impact. (Bold Statement)
Final: BUF 43-23. You couldn't have been more wrong.

MIA (-5.5) @ JAX
Mike: MIA. One pick later and I still don't know.
Joe: JAX. Sure why not... IT'S PAT!!!
Final: MIA by 14. The website killed my Pat gif.

HOU (-2.5) @ TEN
Mike: HOU. I do know that the Titans are Terrible and JJ Watt is not terrible, unless it's this kind of terrible. Or horrible.
Joe: HOU. And Clowney is back. This is all bad for Mettenberger. This is your future, Titan fans.

Final: HOU by 14. That's the funniest picture I've seen in a while. He's channeling Kelso from That 70s Show.

BAL @ CIN (-1.5)
Mike: BAL. If I had a million dollars (if I had a million dollars) I would wager on Baltimore (haven't you always wanted a monkey?)
Joe: BAL. This is the game you'd wager on?? This is one that could easily go either way.
Final: CIN by 3. What can I say. What's a million dollars anyway.

PHI @ ARI (-2.5)
Mike: PHI. Two things: I always think Philadelphia will be explosive on offense and I always think Arizona will be terrible on offense.
Joe: ARI. The Cards have been shocking all season, why not continue that?
Final: ARI by 4. ProFootballTalk lists the Cardinals at #2 on their power rankings. Uh, right.

IND (-3.5) @ PIT
Mike: IND. How many non-winning seasons in a row until Mike Tomlin is dismissed? This would be their third in a row.
Joe: IND. Please let this be 52-0.
Final: PIT 51-34. I blame Joe for jinxing this one.

OAK @ CLE (-6.5)
Mike: OAK. We've given so much of ourselves to the Cleveland Browns. Time for them to start reciprocating. I'm still not on the Johnny Train but it seems like it's inevitable at this point.
Joe: CLE. Oakland's D will put the Browns' O back on track. 37-20 Brownies.
Final: CLE by 10. A very uncomfortable win.

GB @ NO (-1.5)
Mike: GB. The Saints haven't lost at home with Brees and Coach Peyton since a certain team in Orange and Brown shocked them in primetime. Their current streak ends on Sunday Night.
Joe: GB. David Bowen's is not walking through that door. He can probably hardly walk at this point anyway.
Final: NO by 19. And the Saints are back.

Monday Night Football
WASH @ DAL (-9.5)
Mike: WAS. Rivalry game on Monday Night Football -- I think the Redskins will show up and keep it close.
Joe: DAL. Dallas' schedule outside of the trip to Seattle has actually been quite kind. This game fits right in with the rest, 38-17 Dallas.
Final: WAS by 3 in OT. Colt McCoy defeats Brandon Weeden.

Mike: 7-8
Joe: 6-9
