Joe's Week 3 Locks
A certainty for today's Browns game is that something we haven't seen before will happen. From being dominated by a FCS rookie in his debut, to losing a 20-2 first quarter lead, to losing 2 starting QBs by 2 week this has been anything but a predictable start to the season. Maybe the 0-2 record isn't a surprise, but everything associated with how they got to this point has been done in typical Browns craziness.
I expect more of the same today in Miami. With unproven, and most likely not ready, Cody Kessler making the start, it's anyone's guess how he and the team react. Will he be Colt McCoy and manage the game while looking like a competent NFL backup or will he be Ken Dorsey and not be able to lead a sustainable drive?
After seeing what Belichick did on a short week with his rookie QB, I'm excited to see if Hue Jackson can put Kessler in similar winnable plays built to his strengths. Of course, New England was playing at home with a better supporting cast on both sides of the ball, but this is the coaching improvement that needs to be obviously better than the last few inept coaches. Can he scheme and make adjustments that the previous hires never could?
Week 3 Picks
Arizona @ (+4) Buffalo - My Pick, Arizona 30-24. I've heard a lot about Buffalo getting the upset this week but if the Cardinals are a contender they go across the country and get the convincing win. is the the end of the Ryan brothers in Buffalo?Chicago @ (-7.5) Dallas - My Pick, Dallas 24-20. Dallas and Dak continue winning but Brian Hoyer does Hoyer things and keeps this close until the end.
Pittsburgh @ (+3.5) Philadelphia - My Pick, Pittsburgh 31-20. Wentz will still be good but playing from behind against the Steelers won't go as well as his first two weeks.
Detroit @ (-7.5) Green Bay - My Pick, Green Bay 27-24. Unless the Packers discovered something this week, they aren't blowing anyone out yet. The Lions are a little better than I expected and how long will it be before we hear 'Head Coach Jim Bob Cooter?'
San Francisco @ (-9.5) Seattle - My Pick, Seattle 17-13. Seattle has to rebound after 2 terrible offensive performances to start the season, right?? The 49ers D is good enough to keep this close but Blaine Gabbert isn't winning in Seattle.
